Welcome to bllklly.com's free job listings

Visitors to this page: no count available

Hi! This page aims to provide a free listing of all jobs advertised by Swiss companies on their web sites. Why? For personal use, for a technical challenge, as a public service, and as a trial balloon to see if anyone is interested in this as a paid service. Our main motivation was that the current Swiss job sites are frankly very poor. 90% of the job ads point you to personnel agencies, who will seldom offer you an advantage in landing the job, and can be a disadvantage, since your new employer will have to pay the agency around a month of your salary for the privilege of getting your CV from them. A few job sites do offer job ads from companies - jobsuchmaschine.ch is the best - check 'em out. But they only cover a handful of the companies that are out there.

These job listings were generated fully automatically; this is both their strength and their weakness. It's a strength, because they can be kept up to date with no human intervention, so you'll see new jobs as soon as they're published. But it's also a weakness, because it's difficult to interpret all the nuances of language and web page structure when you're only a piece of software. We've already done a lot of work to find the greatest number of job ads with the least amount of junk, but it's a never-ending task, and we're offering this service for free, working on it only in our spare time.

Known limitations and weaknesses

  1. We don't cover more than half the Swiss firm sites. Various ways in which web pages and sites are structured make it difficult to find the job section if it's there.
  2. It's quite difficult to distinguish jobs in Switzerland from those in other places. Often the same company has jobs in different places, maybe even listed on the same page. So maybe 5-10% of the jobs listed here aren't in Switzerland.
  3. Our automatic job title recognizer is far from perfect. It will miss some job titles and point out things that use the same words. The "General" category in particular contains lots of general statements about "Mitarbeiter" and "Experten", but also various job ads that our software couldn't (at present) automatically categorize.
  4. The job descriptions don't reliably filter out `job profiles' of jobs that the company offers in good times, that aren't actually available now. This isn't so bad - those companies might be good candidates for sending a spontaneous application (Blindbewerbung).
  5. We make a half-hearted attempt to find the locations mentioned in a job ad. These may not be accurate, they may be the address of the personnel department and not where the job is located, and they may be occasionally be something silly like `Zu' or `Telefon'. We think this is still useful, as you can quickly see that a job in Geneva is unsuitable if you're looking in St. Gallen, in the cases where we did find an address.
  6. The job categories may not be the most logical. Partly they're based on our personal needs, partly on what's easiest to distinguish based on job title.
  7. The "First Seen" date tells when we first saw the job ad. If we only started to check the site recently, the job may be much older.
Despite all these limitations, it's 100 times faster for you to filter out the garbage here than it is to visit hundreds of company web sites hoping to find a job. (And consider that this is the only job site that describes its own defects - just imagine how long the list would be by the top job sites!)

Updates

We try to update these listings once or more a week, but make no guarantees. It's free - you get what you pay for!

Feedback

Would you be willing to pay for an improved version of this service? How much would it be worth to you? Fr. 20 per year? Fr. 50? Fr. 100? Fr. 200? What would absolutely have to be improved before you'd pay for this service? Send an e-mail to jobservice@bllklly.com to let us know.

We're always interested in feedback on how to improve the service. The main problem is that we already have dozens of ideas and no time to implement them, so realistically speaking, your ideas will only be added to our long 'to do' list. But we would like to hear your impressions anyway!

Legal

We take no responsibility for the contents of the linked-to pages. We do not cache or distribute the contents of other people's web sites, just offer an easier way for people to find them where they are. We make no guarantee of completeness - if you read the text above, you'll see that we know these are not all of the online job ads, nor are all of the links actual ads.

The use of this index for your personal use is allowed. You may not redistribute it or use it for profit.

To Companies, Personnel Agencies

We have attempted to exclude personnel agency sites from our listings, but it's possible we've missed one. If you want your agency removed, let us know. If you're interested in using our listings on a commercial basis, get in touch. If you're a company and want your site added, send an e-mail. If you're a company advertising jobs but don't want anyone to actually apply for them, I guess we can also arrange to have your site removed.
