Bhutan - the Buddhist kingdom cum parliamentary democracy best know for it’s measure of gross national happiness. The country like GNH is more complex than you might think: for instance, happiness is defined as being Buddhist, whereas a large minority is Hindu. Visiting the dzongs (traditional monasteries now half devoted to administrative offices) many, many Buddhist temples and a Buddhist festival was a great pleasure though. The Tiger’s Nest monastery, clinging to a cliffside at 3,120 meters above sea level.
