I don't need to tell most of you that my favorite band is The Cure. I got to sing their hit Friday I'm in Love at Anna's and my wedding party. Even when I listen to their dark, depressing songs (that's about 80% of them), I feel good. So I decided it was time to produce my own "depro" Cure-like song, but with a few happy bits. And Cured suits so well!
I figure the lyrics are similar to The Last Day of Summer, the structure to Watching Me Fall and the theme to Endsong.
By the way, it took me five years to do this, but The Cure also put me in 5 years of suspense between announcing they were working on their most recent (final?) album, Songs of a Lost World until it finally came out.
One more thing: Cure songs are usually long; Endsong was 10:25. So I thought Cured might end up as my longest song on i.e., but in fact Edgelea Drive is half a minute longer. I guess I had more to say there!
Cured
Life is long
Who would ever think of that when they were young?
So much to learn
From what you see and hear, but mostly what you've done
So much time
In the end, of course, it's not enough
What a privilege we get
To see this world and to find love
Life is long
And we all have promises to keep
Just heed this song
And get them done before the eternal sleep
Sun is fading
It seemed so bright
Seems like I'm trading
It for the night
Dark - so dark
Where might I find the moon?
The night is long
Wish it ended soon...
Light's not always from above
Sometimes it comes from love
And that's how this story
Reaches a happy end
