I love the lyrics to Farin Urlaub's songs, but they're just not accessible to anyone who doesn't speak or at least understand German. For instance, you don't even get the joke that since he was always travelling, the band members stopped calling him Jan Vetter and came up with Farin Urlaub instead - Go-on Vacation. First I thought of translating some of the lyrics for friends - but then I thought if I did that, I might as well do a cover for my upcoming album i.e.
Parts of the lyrics to the original song Phänomenal egal translate well, and others are rather difficult. The title itself is tough - web sites mights suggest "I don't care" for "egal", but how do you combine that with the adverb Phenomenally? Phenomenally indifferent is a possibility. In this first version, I've gone with phenomenally unimpressed. That doesn't grab me the way the German title does, but it's the best I've got so far!
Ah, the lyrics are about a guy who thinks he's being very honest with his ex-girlfriend (or potential girlfriend?), but is obviously lying to himself.
I recommend checking out the original, though as usual with Farin's videos, they don't literally follow the lyrics of the song. (Like Herz? Verloren, a song he wrote when he first heard the word "polyamorous". Yes, he lost his heart in the song, but not in a surgical procedure!)
