Allgemein: Die Theklalerche (Galerida theklae) ist eine Vogelart aus der Familie der Lerchen (Alaudidae), deren Verbreitung von Südwesteuropa über große Teile Nordafrikas reicht. Außerdem ist die Art im östlichen Afrika in Eritrea, Äthiopien, Somalia und Nordkenia zu finden. Während die südwesteuropäischen Vögel stark der nahe verwandten Haubenlerche ähneln, sind die Populationen am Nordrand der Sahara sehr hell und sandfarben. [more]
Gesang: Song: a mix of long whistling, warbling sounds, trills and mimicry. Full song very similar to Crested Lark. Rudiments of song are often heard and is less whistling than Crested. [Link]
Rufe: The contact call/alarm-call may be the best characteristic to separate it from Crested Lark where both species occur. Thekla Lark calls with 3-5 syllables, of which one is often drawn out and "hangs" while falling in pitch, giving it a melancholic feeling (diagnostic). The phrase has a more "bouncing" feel to it than Crested Lark. [Link]
