Zuerst gesehen in Lago Maggiore in Locarno. Jan 2022 auch als Wintergast am Pfaeffikersee. [Link]
Appearance and identification:

In winter you can admire a few of these birds with the straggly tuft. [Link]
Calls:

Female call a harsh "karr karr". Male display sound a three-syllabic, fast, "chi-ka-wee" slightly resembling Goldeneye. [Link]
Physical details: length=52-58 cm, wingspan=70-86 cm, weight=900-1350 g
Habitats: River and lake
Looks similar to: Greater scaup.
First documented observation: 2021-04-06 in Locarno. Most recent observation: 2025-02-03 in Luppmen.
