Wir haben Ferien in Sugiez am Murtensee gemacht. Von dort fliesst ein Kanal in den Neuenburgersee, und dort in La Sauge gibt's einen Naturschutzgebiet mit Limikolen und andere Durchzügler im Frühling. Obwohl wir etwas später da waren, gab's Nachtigalle, dutzende nestende Kormorane, Pirole, usw.

Hier sind zwei Buchfink, die auf Laub auf dem Wasser im Aa laufen, was ich noch nie gesehen habe und wir beide die für etwas exotischeres gehalten haben. In Balzari und Gygax Vogelarten der Schweiz sind Buchfink ohne starken Farben als Männchen im Schlichtkleid im ersten Winter beschrieben. Weiter hinten mit graubraun und olivgrün wäre ein Weibchen in Adultkleid.

Wir haben so viel gesehen und gehört. Ein paar Namen: Samstag 26.06.2021: Haubenmeisen (sehr nervös), Wachholderdrossel, Gimpel gehört, Braunkehlchen auf der Wiese, 11:21 baumpieper an Baum Spitze, See birdnet too. Weisse Mini streifen an Flügeln. Bauchstriche anders als wiesenüieper Weidenmeisen gehört? eher monoton, 11:35 Bachstelze, 11:38 Braunkehlchen Gesang, schon mal gesehen, 27.06.2021 Alpenmeise gehört, Feldhase, Fichtenkreuzschnabel habe ich allein gesehen, Tannenhäher, Ringdrossel (auch Ringamsel genannt), Gimpel fast gesehen. Auf dem Gipfel: Baumpieper Bluthänfling (rot, fliegt in Wellen Bewegung), Zitronenzeisig=Zitronengirlitz (sie sind Vertikalzieher, die man im Sommer in den Alpen sieht, in Winter im Unterland. Die verwandten Erlenzeisige habe ich z.B. in Rapperswil gesehen), 3 Fichtenkreuzschnabel über Gipfel geflogen, Zitronenzeisig weibchen von hinten grau, 12:55 Heckenbraunelle, Klappergrasmücke. Weitere Namen von der Gruppe: Waldschnepfen und Waldohreulen in der Nacht (ich war nicht dabei), Berglaubsänger.

2021-06-09 - 2021-06-22 in Maryland
I was here two years earlier but without an ear or eye for birds. The difference was astounding. This was also the middle of the outburst of 17-year cicadas. Literally billions emerged from the earth in the Eastern Seaboard, filling the air and making a deafening racket. Highlights were birding outings at the excellent Cromwell Valley Park with brother Mark, and later in Oregon Ridge park with Mark, his daughter Bekah and her husband Nick. Even hanging out at Mom's showed an amazing number of different birds, so close to the Torrey C. Brown rail trail and the various waters of Big Gunpowder Falls, etc. I saw over 30 species of birds, and heard a few more. Oh, I saw people too ;-)

Highlights waren Neuntöter, Goldammer, Zaunammer, Gartenrotschwanz und (für mich auf jeden Fall) einmal einen guten Blick auf einen grellgelben Girlitz. Auch das letzte Mal das ich meinen Teleconverter ausprobiere, er schafft Autofokus nicht in realistischen Situationen und ich schaffe kein scharfes Bild mit manuell. Der Kampf mit dem Autofokus dauert auch so lang, das die Vögel schon weg sind.

Wir hatten Ferien geplant für den Tag des Flachsee-Ausflugs, darum bin ich selber gegangen. Es ist ein sehr schöner Ort mit vielen Vögeln. Leider habe ich nicht so viel Glück mit den Limikolen! null Alle sagen, es ist schwierig bis unmöglich Sumpfrohrsänger und Teichrohrsänger visuell zu unterscheiden. BirdNet hat den Gesang eines Sumpfrohrsängers vermutet, aber ich habe selber wiederholt Aufnahmen gehört, Fotos verglichen und nachgelesen. Following my first Covid-19 vaccination in Wetzikon, I took a celebratory walk through the nature preserve along the Aabach, which flows out of the Pfäffikersee. This time I walked along the Messikommerweg for the first time, since people often report interesting birds there that I've never seen. I did well too - saw a Schwarzkehlchen and Rohrammer for the first time, got nice pictures of a Gartenbaumläufer, and heard a nightingale's frog-like call.
